It's possible to export special worktops plans (worktops inside shape) as .DXF files and to join them to the supplier order file sent by email.

Algebraic Surfaces and Holomorphic Vector Bundles

This book covers the theory of algebraic surfaces and holomorphic vector bundles in an integrated manner. It is aimed at graduate students who have had a thorough first year course in algebraic geometry (at the level of Hartshorne's ALGEBRAIC GEOMETRY), as well as more advanced graduate students and researchers in the areas of algebraic geometry, gauge thoery, or 4-manifold topolgogy. Many of the results on vector bundles should also be of interest to physicists studying string theory. A novel feature of the book is its integrated approach to algebraic surface theory and the study of vector bundle theory on both curves and surfaces. While the two subjects remain separate through the first few chapters, and are studied in alternate chapters, they become much more tightly interconnected as the book progresses. Thus vector bundles over curves are studied to understand ruled surfaces, and then reappear in the proof of Bogomolov's inequality for stable bundles, which is itself applied to study canonical embeddings of surfaces via Reider's method. Similarly, ruled and elliptic surfaces are discussed in detail, and then the geometry of vector bundles over such surfaces is analyzed. Many of the results on vector bundles appear for the first time in book form, suitable for graduate students. The book also has a strong emphasis on examples, both of surfaces and vector bundles. There are over 100 exercises which form an integral part of the text.

This book is an outgrowth of the twelfth Summer Mathematical Institute of the American Mathematical Society, which was devoted to Algebraic Groups and Discontinuous Subgroups. The Institute was held at the University of Colorado in Boulder from July S to August 6, 1965, and was financed by the National Science Foundation and the Office of Naval Research. The present volume consists of the Institute lecture notes, in part slightly revised, and of a few papers written somewhat later.

From the beginning, it was understood that a comprehensive exposition of the arithmetic aspects of algebraic groups should be a central aim of the Institute. In order to survey effectively the topics chosen for discussion, some important parts of the theory of Lie groups and algebraic groups had to be omitted, and the program was concentrated around five major themes: linear algebraic groups and arithmetic groups, adeles and arithmetic properties of algebraic groups, auto-morphic functions and spectral decomposition of $L^2$-spaces of coset spaces, holomorphic automorphic functions on bounded symmetric domains and moduli problems, vector valued cohomology and deformation of discrete subgroups. How many degrees of freedom are there? How do we describe the dynamics of this if we hit it?

The first idea we shall meet is really the defining property of a manifold – to be able to describe points locally by n real numbers, local coordinates. Then we shall need to define analytical objects (vector fields, differential forms for example) which are independent of the choice of coordinates. This has a double advantage: on the one hand it enables us to discuss these objects on topologically non-trivial manifolds like spheres, and on the other it also provides the language for expressing the equations of mathematical physics in a coordinate-free form, one of the fundamental principles of relativity. The most basic example of analytical techniques on a manifold is the theory of differential forms and the exterior derivative.

This generalizes the grad, div and curl of ordinary three-dimensional calculus. A large part of the course will be occupied with this. It provides a very natural generalization of the theorems of Green and Stokes in three dimensions and also gives rise to de Rham cohomology which is an analytical way of approaching the algebraic topology of the manifold. This has been important in an enormous range of areas from algebraic geometry to theoretical physics.
